Sometimes a regular sized candle just isn’t enough.
If you’ve got a big space to fill your gonna need something bigger. Extra large, multi wick, scented candles are the way to get the job done. How big do candles get? Well this post has a candle that is 10 kg.
Yea, you heard that right. A 10 kg candle.
There are some brands that have been making these huge candles for a while now and there is actually a good amount to choose from. (Not all of them are 10 kg)
In this post we are going to share a list of oversized scented candles. Hopefully, you can get a better idea of what’s out there, and find one that you might like.
Where to buy these huge candles
It goes without saying that these candles aren’t as commonly found as regular candles.
First of all, the size of them makes it hard to display them on store shelves with other candles.
Second, these candles are expensive. They’re expensive because there is just so much candle to them. Technically, most of them are actually cheaper than their regular sized siblings when you work out their price per ounce. But still, it sure feels expensive when you are dishing out upwards of $200 for a single candle. They can cost even more than that for the luxury brands and biggest sizes.
So where do you buy extra large scented candles then?
The easiest place is honestly online. I buy everything online nowadays. Endless selection at your fingertips.
The only negative about buying candles online however, is that some retailers still suck at packaging fragile products. Most are getting pretty good at it, but some just can’t seem to get it right.
Most of the time, when a package does happen to arrive broken, most companies that I’ve dealt with will usually just send a replacement so it’s not too much of a hassle, but it’s something to keep in mind.
The couple times that I’ve ordered a big candle like these online, it arrived in very good packaging and without a scratch on it. It’s probably because they don’t want to be sending out any free replacements on expensive candles, so they make sure they ship them safely.
21 Huge Candles You Can Buy Online Broken Down By Their Size
We have decided to categorize these candles into a variety of sizes because getting a 1 kg candle is a whole lot different than buying a 10 kg candle. Some brands only go up to a certain size and so, as we move up in size, the amount of candles in each category will lessen. Obviously. We also picked a scent to show off for each.
My price per ounce calculations should only be taken as approximations. Some companies go by weight of wax, while others go by total weight. Use the numbers as a rough guideline.
Oversized Candles Up To 2 KG
1. Nest Fragrances – Grapefruit
- 1.34 kg
- $2.96 / ounce
Nest is a favorite on the blog. However, I don’t believe that we’ve mentioned their 4 wick luxury candle. This candle is 1.34 kg and surprisingly, that is one of the smaller candles on this list! If you’ve got a favorite scent, check to see if it’s in this size to get even more of a fragrance punch, that’ll fill any room.
2. Le Labo – Santal 26
- 1.2 kg
- $11.35 / ounce
Santal 26 is one of Le Labo’s signature scents and this version of it comes in a big ol’ concrete vessel. This one is around 1.2 kg but also quite pricey for it’s size, working out to around $11 an ounce.
3. The White Company – Seychelles Indulgence
- 2 kg
- $2.70 / ounce
This candle is right on the weight limit for this section. Seychelles Indulgence is 2 kg of exotic beachy goodness. It uses a mineral wax and 4 wicks to throw this fragrance to it’s maximum.
4. Baobab Collection – Lazuli
- 1.35 kg (wax)
- $3.40 / ounce (wax)
Baobab makes some big candles. Spoiler alert, they will come up again in this list. The candle above is inspired by lapis lazuli stones and has a scent combo of cardamom, sea salt, and musk.
5. Hannah’s Candlemart – Winter Balsam
- 1 kg
- $0.67 / ounce
It’s weird comparing the price per ounce of a consumer brand candle over a high end luxury brand. This one is quite an affordable candle and still relatively large. We’ve reviewed Hannah’s before and they were excellent. With how wide this candle is, it does burn pretty quickly, but with the great price, you won’t be too worried.
6. L’Objet – Jasmin d’Inde
- 1 kg
- $11.11 / ounce
I still can’t say this brand name out loud but I love their candles. Look how cool that jar is. This complex fragrance includes notes of saffron, cumin, nutmeg, green leaves, jasmine, ylang moheli, patchouli, peruvian balsam, sandalwood, birch tar, and civet. Sounds pretty spicey to me!
7. Locherber – Venetiae
- 1.6 kg
- $4.64 / ounce
Inspired by Venice’s briccole wooden poles, this candle will give you that aquatic, woody scent without the crowds. The burn time on this one is approximately 70 hours.
8. Casacarta – Dark Amber
- 1.9 kg
- $4.55 / ounce
Considering this candle is adorned with 22 K gold bee print, it’s actually a pretty decent price! It’s scaring me how much I love some of these jars.
9. Tom Dixon – Alchemy
- 1.4 kg
- $6.92 / ounce
Gun powder, black pepper, and suede. Those are the fragrance notes contained in this black brass jar. If you’re looking for something with a punch of smokiness and spice, this is just for you. This collection has a couple other fragrances if that doesn’t sound like your thing, and they come in at 1.4 kg in their biggest size!
10. Goose Creek – Toasty Hot Toddy
- 1.7 kg
- $2.08 / ounce
Find this candle online
I have to admit, Goose Creek doesn’t make it on to the blog as much as they should. It’s so hard to get to them all! They make some excellent candles and at a great price to boot. The excellent Toasty Hot Toddy scent above is 1.7 kg of goodness.
11. Fornasetti – Flora
- 1.9 kg
- $12.86 / ounce
Last but certainly not least in the 2 kg and under category, the extravagant fragrances of Fornasetti. These are basically the Ferrari of candles. Considering that, and the fact that you have an oversized 1.9 kg version of their candle, you’re going to pay a pretty penny for this one. These are heavy, room filling fragrances in their regular sizes, so if you’re lucky enough to get one in this size, watch out, you’re in for a treat.
Oversized Candles Up To 5 KG
1. Jo Malone – Pomegranite Noir
- 2.5 kg
- $5.63 / ounce
Ahh Jo Malone.. So pricey, but so good. The largest variety from the brand comes in at 2.5 kg and burns for around 230 hours.
2. Cire Trudon – Ernesto
- 2.8 kg
- $5.62 / ounce
Long time candle makers Cire Trudon aren’t going to be left out of a list like this. The fragrance masters have their candles in a 2.8 kg version that burns up to 300 hours! The version of the Ernesto candle pictured above is actually a brand new style as well. *drool*
3. Crossroads – Buttered Maple Syrup
- 2.72 kg
- Budget price point
Okay, enough with the luxury candles, here is one that is very reasonable for the size. The price changes on Amazon so I can’t give an exact but see what the current price is here. Crossroads candles are damn good as well. If you want a fragrance powerhouse on a budget, here is your candle.
4. Tom Dixon – London
- 3.3 kg
- $6.80 / ounce
This one is another candle from the Tom Dixon collection above. It comes in at double the size of the last one, however. Yup, we are getting into some real big candles.
5. Voluspa – Goji Tarocco Orange
- 3.5 kg
- $1.60 / ounce
Voluspa makes some of the most popular big candles on this list. Not only are they a great price for being considered ‘affordable luxury’, these candles are also huge! We love their scents as you can see in some of our other posts on the blog, and the one above is one of our absolute favorites. You can often find these big candles from Voluspa at open houses, luring those buyers in.
6. Capri Blue – Colossal White Volcano
- 3.7 kg
- $1.37 / ounce
It’s the signature scent of Anthropologie.. but bigger! A lot bigger! Not a lot of people know this, but the scent that everybody loves ‘Volcano’ comes in a massive 3.7 kg version. Look at it in all it’s beauty.
Candle Junkies Approved Candles
7. Baobab – Holy
- 5 kg
- $2.15 / ounce
Baobab makes a stop in our second weight class of the post with their 5 kg candles! This baby has a burn time of around 400 hours so you can light it up plenty of times. And how nice do those jars look? I love the look they went for with the blown glass.
Oversized Candle Over 5 KG
1. Max Benjamin – Ilum Un Seul Monde
- 5.15 kg
- $3.35 / ounce
We’re bringing out the big guns now. These candles are massive. This line from Max Benjamin is said to have up to 600 hours of burn time and is housed in a porcelain vessel that is over a foot in height!
2. Dr. Vranjes Firenze – Noble Red
- 6 kg
- $3.67 / ounce
The story behind this fragrance involves a challenge to create an aroma that matched the power of flavors from drinking a glass of wine. This is the product of 2 years worth of testing. Sounds pretty impressive. The candle has up to 680 hours worth of burn time and comes in a mouth-blown vessel that pays homage to the Vault of the Florentine Dome.
3. Baobab Collection – Bliss
- 10 kg
- $2.13 / ounce
Blowing the other candles on the list away is Baobab once again with their 10 kg behemoth! You’ll have a tough time finding any candles that are bigger than these ones from Baobab Collection. A single candle will give you around 800 hours of burn time! These things are huge. The price per ounce is the icing on the cake with this size as well. Believe it or not, they are only a little more per ounce than Bath and Body Works candles! Unless of course.. you are using their half off sale, which you should be!
