Candle Review: Aspen Bay Capri Blue, Volcano
This candle comes in a neat, navy glass jar that makes a chic décor statement, even before you light it.
Is it Scent-sational?
Wafting a cocktail of citrus and exotic oils, this candle is described as releasing a fresh scent reminiscent of fruit punch and a hot, tropical beach. Others say that the aroma is earthy, laced with pure nature.
Whether or not this is the genuine smell of a volcano is up for debate. Yet either way, the scent is pleasant and a real mood lifter.
Fragrance Intensity:
Some users report that the scent spreads quickly yet delicately, and fills the whole house. Others complain that it’s so subtle that you can only detect it when your nose is above the flame.
While everyone agrees that the scent is light, there seems to be a wide range of opinions on the distance of the scent throw.
Burn Quality and Longevity:
Unfortunately, many users share grievances about the way this candle melts. It is billed as lasting 100+ hours, but the life span is hard to test. Wax builds up on the edges and causes deep tunneling, and the wick burns out first.
To be fair, one user claims that trimming the wick regularly solves the problem and his candle lasted for five months of daily use with trimming.
Unable to part from the heavenly scent, some candle lovers place it on a heating tray after the wicks are gone, and the aroma still drifts well.
Cost and Value:
Relatively speaking, this candle is pretty pricey. Yet with a distinctive and delightful scent, it’s a bestselling item. Especially if it burns evenly and completely, then its uniqueness raises the overall value and justifies the high upfront cost.
