Votivo Lavender Chamomile Pear Candle Review

Votivo candles has been handcrafting and perfecting their luxury candles since 1994. Aside from being machine poured with a machine every candle is tweaked by hand to ensure they all come out exactly the way they want. It’s something that is rarely done by large scale companies anymore. It’s a great thing to see, and it shows that the company cares about the quality of their candles. The scents from Votivo are rich and complex. Lavender Chamomile Pear for example is one of these scents and is what we purchased for review today.

Review Rundown:

Is it Scent-sational?
I cannot get enough of the scent of this candle. From the minute I opened the box I was engulfed in the intoxicating scent of this candle. The pear is what I pick up on most but it is not just a plain pear scent. It is an addicting scent with notes of chamomile and lavender that dance around with the pear to produce an amazing combination overall. I actually keep this candle beside my computer unlit because it is a strong enough fragrance that I don’t even have to light it to enjoy it.

Votivos best selling candle ‘red currant’ is often talked about as being some peoples favorite candle. While I agree that it is truly an amazing scent as well, I believe this candle deserves to be right up there along with it. 10/10

Fragrance Intensity:
Very strong scent throw on this candle lit or unlit. A relatively small candle that has the ability to scent an entire room. 9/10

Presentation:
All Votivo candles in their regular line have the same luxurious style. They come in tissue paper that is hand-wrapped within boxes that have seals which are also pressed by hand. The only difference between each scent is the label on the front of the box which has the scent number and name on it.

The candles themselves all come in a tanned colored wax in a simple glass container. They are wrapped with the signature hand pressed Votivo seals and it gives them all a distinct look that in my opinion looks very nice. 8.5/10

Burn Quality and Longevity:
The tweaking that Votivo has done to get their candles to burn the way they do is quite impressive. I found that this candle takes quite a long time to form a full melt pool but it also doesn’t need to be lit that long to fragrance a room.

My recommendation with this candle is to just burn it long enough each time to allow it to form a full melt pool and then snuff it out. I didn’t have any problems with this candle tunneling but I could see it happening if you don’t burn it long enough to allow the surface layer to melt fully.

For how small this candle is it really lasts a long time. We got over 55 hours out of our candle which is 5 hours more than the estimate it gives on its website. 9/10

Cost and Value:
I got double the burn time out of this 6.8 ounce candle then I do with candles that are over double the amount of wax! Take the Bath and Body Works 3 wick candles for an example: They are 14.5 ounces and are empty within 45 hours burn time (that’s being generous). Don’t get me wrong, I love the Bath and Body Works candles but you can easily make a case that the value is there on these Votivo candles even though they have a higher up front price tag.
