There’s A Candle That Smells Like Harry Styles

The summer of 2020 were wild times. “Watermelon Sugar” got us hopped up while we were cooped up. We listened to it on repeat dreaming of the days we could safely go back to beaches and bars and crowded concerts and dance the night away.

And while we know from interviews with his makeup artist that Harry Styles’ favorite fragrance is Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille, we also know that a 98 dollar candle in the same fragrance isn’t in the cards for a lot of us.

What can a Styles fan on a budget do? Why, shop our favorite big box store for a dupe, of course. We’ve done it for Disney scents, we’ve done it for Harry Potter scents, so why not Harry Styles?

Here is the candle from Target that everyone is drooling for:

The Threshold Cashmere Vanilla candle sounds great on its own. Luxe, warm, and inviting, just like its name suggests, this candle is already a winner. But add in the Styles mystique and an internet sensation was born.

For one hot summer, it was hard to get your hands on the candle that smells like Harry Styles. (Much like it’s difficult to get one’s hands on the actual Harry Styles, more’s the pity.) One Harry Styles lover reviewed the candle on Target’s website and said, “the only reason I bought it is because it smells like Harry.” But does it? Does it?

What does Harry Styles smell like? (And for the purpose of this review, all parties are 21 and over.)

The lights are low and bodies are everywhere. The shimmer of sequins and disco light reflect off of gleaming skin. Suddenly, you feel hands hovering a respectful distance away from your hips and a smooth British voice whisper-shout in your ear, “May I?” You turn, looking up into soulful eyes and that trademark cheeky grin. You say yes. Duh. His hands land on your hips, you two dance, and the scent of amber and confidence seem to seep into your skin.

Or…

The firelight is turned low and the chalet is empty. Almost all of your friends are celebrating an apres ski at the lodge, but you stayed behind with a bum ankle and a good book. Sipping on sweet cocoa with cinammon-vanilla cream, enjoying the warmth of the fire on your upturned face, another fragrance enters your consciousness. And a voice. That voice, that scent…you’d know it anywhere.

Ooh. Don’t fan yourself too vigorously. You might put out the candle.

So after going back to give this post an update, I realized that Target no longer has this candle for sale! What are they thinking?! Seriously, I guess they don’t care much for their candle sales. Anyways, I found some other Harry Styles inspired candles that might be even better and are easy to find on Amazon!

Our Threshold Cashmere Vanilla Candle Review:

The notes: vanilla. (That’s all the Target site says about the scent. But other reviewers mention musk, briefly.)

The packaging: many sizes and burn times.

We love a Target candle. Inexpensive. Surprisingly elegant vessels that look great in every room of the house. Sometimes hit-or-miss on the fragrance throw, but usually a great burn-time.

Paraffin wax isn’t always our favorite. It doesn’t always burn as clean as we’d like, and some with sensitivities might find it overwhelming. And, ultimately, this candle isn’t overwhelming. It’s nice, but it’s not a precise dupe for Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. Or Mr. Harold Styles, for that matter.

It’s not a cloyingly gourmand vanilla, which will delight some. It’s fairly mellow when all is said and done.

But is it worth grabbing on your next need-it-now run to the corner Tar-zhay? If you’ve got room in the budget and enjoy a healthy fantasy life, then go for it.
