Fragrant Jewels Review

Update: Pink Peony and Snowed In are not currently available on Fragrant Jewels but you can find their store on Amazon for more.

Fragrant Jewels offer candles with a twist. You may have seen them advertised on social media or around the web as ‘ring candles’, and that is just what they are. As your candle burns down you will find a ring wrapped in foil that is worth up to $10000! They have been around for about 2 years now and remain amongst the most popular brands of ring candles to this day.

I’ve been hearing many good things about them lately and have also taken a keen interest in some of their newer products. One of the things that stood out to me when you compare a Fragrant Jewels candle with most other jewelry type candles is that these are made with a less oft-used clean burning coconut wax blend. The majority of their direct competitors use soy wax, which is also an eco-friendly alternative to paraffin, but I’m excited to see how this wax compares.

Another thing that should be noted is these candles have a higher max possible jewelry value of $10000 which is only matched by Jewelry In Candles as far as I know. Of course, the ‘max value’ ring shouldn’t be a major deciding factor when choosing a ring candle because chances are slim that you can luck out enough to find one valued that high. It still is an interesting thing to note when differentiating between the competitors.

Fragrant Jewels Jewelry Candle Review

So aside from these features, how do Fragrant Jewels candles stack up to their competitors?

For the Fragrant Jewels review, we wanted to try out some candles from both size options so we purchased the ‘Snowed In’ candle from the traditional size, and the ‘Pink Peony’ from the tri-wick collection.

Review Rundown

Is It Scent-sational?

Snowed In (traditional size) Scent Description: Warm woods, Pinecone, and Vanilla

Upon unboxing this candle I found it to have a mild cold sniff of vanilla and spice. I wasn’t sure how it would fair when lit as I’ve found that some of the soy ring candles were stronger when not lit. This was not the case though as after a few minutes of being lit the scent from this candle really picked up and I could begin picking up on the other scent notes. This fragrance was an inviting scent that would fit in just as well in a fall setting as winter. As the candle burned I really got a good mix of cinnamon, vanilla, and spice with a hint of pinecone. Overall it was a great scent and I would go for it again.

Pink Peony (tri-wick size) Scent Description: Pine Peonies with a hint of sweet roses and bluebells

On cold sniff, this candle held a bit more scent than the previous with some floral notes and a heavier musk than I was expecting. I also expected that when I lit this and had it going for a while that it would be even more fragrant than the ‘Snowed In’ candle. This wasn’t the case surprisingly, both candles were pretty on par with each other in strength. If you read the blog often you may already know that I am not AS big on floral scents as I am with others and so while I did enjoy this scent, I didn’t find it as pleasant as the other candle.

Fragrance Intensity:

Once lit, both of these candles had a great scent throw and their fragrances held a fairly strong presence within an average sized living room. When compared with other jewelry candles I would say that the intensity came in at slightly less than Bling It candles and slightly stronger than JewelScent.

I didn’t have too much luck with the jewelry that I found in my candles this time. You can find out the value of your rings by going to the Fragrant Jewels Vault page on their website. I found one ring worth the minimum $10, one worth the minimum $25 for the tri-wick candles, and there was also a bonus ring which came up in an offer on the Fragrant Jewels page when I was purchasing. This ring was valued at $20. Even though these were some of the lowest value rings, the quality actually looked much better than the lower value jewelry I’ve found in some other candles. I was quite impressed seeing that this low-value jewelry and also seeing what some of the higher value pieces look like from other buyers’ reveals.

With Fragrant Jewels you have a choice in ring size ranging from 5 – 10 with no additional charge for a specific size. They do not however have other jewelry options such as earrings or necklaces like some other brands do.

Presentation:

Fragrant Jewels Elegant Packaging

When it comes to the presentation on these candles the main thing that usually distinguishes one from another is the label. Fragrant Jewels has a professional and elegant label for their candles and that continues on down right to the packaging. These candles came shipped in a recognizable box the same way that Jewelry In Candles products do. Inside, the candles are wrapped with a fully recyclable protection paper that seems to work better than bubble wrap. Because we are located in Canada, we had to use a third-party shipping service to get these candles to us. This requires some extra handling and an increased chance for receiving damaged products. Some of the other candles we have had to do this for often end up with cracks when they arrive, but both of these candles were in perfect condition.

The appearance of the tri-wick candle was probably my favorite of the two. It came with a shiny metal lid and was very similar to other  tri-wick containers you see at such places like Bath and Body Works.

New to Fragrant Jewels is the ‘Black Satin Collection’. Unfortunately, I have not yet had the opportunity to try one myself, but from the pictures on the website you can see that these collectible glass jars make the presentation of these candles even better. Oh, and these candles feature rings made with Swarovski crystals.. so there is that!

Burn Quality:

I was interested to see how this coconut wax blend would perform after trying many other soy waxes. The appearance of it looks smooth and more even than the soy wax candles.

After being lit for 55 minutes, both candles had already formed a full wax pool about 1/4 inch in thickness.

The tri-wick candle continued getting a deeper pool of wax until it was nearing the bottom of the container. The traditional size candle maintained around a 1/4 – 1/2 inch wax pool throughout and stayed consistently the same.

Overall I liked the coconut wax. I think that these burned down quicker than the jewelry candles which are made from soy wax, but had slightly better performance and appearance.

It would be nice if tri-wick candles lasted longer though. I guess it’s a trade off for never having to worry about tunneling issues. But still, this is also something that bothers me with the 3 wick candles from Bath and Body Works, they disappear fast!

Scent Variety:

At the time of this writing there were 41 fragrances to choose from in their candles collection. This is about average in the ring candle market, but brands such as Jewelry In Candles and Jewelry Candles have around 80 each.

Price:

Traditional size ring candle ($10 min ring value) – $24.95 (USD)

Tri-wick ring candle ($25 min ring value) –  $39.95

Black Satin Collection (Swarovski crystal rings) – $59.95

Other Notes:

Fragrant Jewels currently only ships within the US

The bath bombs from Fragrant Jewels have become a new favorite of mine. They contain the same ring surprise but are found in a small capsule placed within the bath bombs. As the bath bomb dissolves, you will find your capsule inside! Many of the new bath bombs from Fragrant Jewels come in their spa scent collection so having their candles burning paired with their spa bath bombs is quite the relaxing experience. You can see all the new Fragrant Jewels bath bombs here.

Don’t do it. they are the worst company to work for. I purchased something on Oct 8th and for 2 weeks it says processing. I finally called and they said they would rush the order. However, I haven’t gotten anything. And on my account, it says the order had been cancelled. I still have yet to receive a refund. Never again.

Sorry to hear about your experience with them! We haven’t run into any problems personally, but our reviews also focus more on the candles themselves.

I purchased a candle from fragrant jewels for a friend. They offered a free bonus ring with purchase which was nice, but. When she received the package the glass around the candle was broken and the ring inside the candle was the wrong size. The bonus ring was the right size though. The package was in great shape so it can easily be assumed the glass was broke before it was shipped. Not going to buy anymore from fragrant jewels.

Sorry to hear about the candle. Did you get in contact with them to see if they would replace it? I have had a pretty good experience with them and I know they have sent replacements in the past.

    • Reply k November 28, 2017 at 7:09 pm

Call them and let them know. I had one arrive with the glass broken and they replaced it…without having to return the broken candle. They were very easy to work with. Things do happen a d they know this.

Also, they make the candles based on the orders received, thus it can take a bit to get them, but not long.

Where are the rings in the fragrant jewel candles? Do you have to burn the candle in order to get your ring?

    • Reply The Candle Junkies June 14, 2017 at 9:04 pm

Yes, you will need to burn the candle down about an inch or two and the ring will be found within the melted wax wrapped in foil!

I have a question about Fragrant Jewels. They don’t secretly subscribe you to receive candles/bath bombs do they? I had that issue with Bella Candles when I ordered one candle and later was charged for (and received) four more candles. I had to cancel a subscription I didn’t know I signed up for just for wanting a single candle. Fragrant Jewels doesn’t do that, do they? Sorry for the long post.

    • Reply The Candle Junkies April 30, 2018 at 11:18 pm

I haven’t run into that issue with them! Fragrant Jewels does have a subscription option that is separate from the individual candles but you would have to opt-in for that.

Fragrant jewel candles are beautifully presented and smell really nice. I have bought a couple of items and each ring I received were beautiful, but you can tell they are fake by looking at them, and you can not wear them because they turn your fingers green and leave a green ring around your finger. Every time I bought an item the ring was worth the same amount making me believe there is no chance of even winning a $100 ring.
