Absinthe & Black Fig comes from the spirit collection of candles from a company called Northern Lights Candles. It caught my eye when I was browsing Amazon one day with its unique apothecary type jar and unusual scent description. The whole line of candles here is an ode to craft cocktails and their creators. Other scents include: ‘Apple Pie Moonshine’, ‘Blackberry Brandy’, and ‘Whiskey and Tobacco‘.
You can find the other scents in this line on Amazon as well.

Review Rundown:
Is it Scent-sational?
Absinthe & Fig is kind of a hard scent for me to describe. Upon popping the cork off and going in for a cold sniff it was immediately evident how great this candle would work as a masculine scent. It has an intoxicating scent that hints of aged spirits with a subtle sweetness.

Overall this candle has a very good scent and is great for those that don’t like candles that have an overly strong sweet smell. 7.5/10
Fragrance Intensity:
This candle is only available in one size which is relatively small (5oz) so the scent is never too overpowering but for a candle of this size it has a pretty high amount of scent throw. Even when the candle is unlit you can smell it at a relatively close distance, so keeping the cork lid left off works well to release some scent and add fragrance to a small room such as a bathroom. After being lit for an hour or so the strength of the scent does become pretty apparent and it can be extinguished to get the most out of your wax. 8/10
Presentation:
This was the first thing that grabbed my attention when I was looking through the candles. The apothecary jars for candles always stick out to me and there are many different styles that different companies do like this. This is one of the better ones that I’ve seen.
The aged cork lid on top really puts a nice touch on this candle and can be handy when you want to seal in the scent after snuffing out the candle.
On the back of each candle are what they call ‘Snappy Snippets’ which are facts that are numbered 1 – 99 and add a sort of collect-them-all element to the candles. 8/10
Burn Quality and Longevity:
The burn quality for this candle wasn’t too bad but it wasn’t the best either. We couldn’t get the melt pool to reach the sides of the jar unless we used the tin foil method. Also, the wick on our candle was off center, so we had to fiddle with it a fair bit to keep it where it was supposed to be. 5/10
