Ranking The NEST Candle Scents

Today we will be ranking the best nest candle scents, which is one of the top luxury brands out there. This will be of course in our opinion but we will try to make sure the picks that we make are more widely accepted favorites as well.

Below is a brief overview on Nest candles.

Nest Fragrances are a luxury brand which was founded by the previous creators of Slatkin & Co. If you have heard of that name it’s because they used to create some of the best candles around and this new brand which was founded in 2005 is looking to improve on what that company created.

Nest candles are on the more affordable end of the luxury candle market. They are more expensive than a few of the very mainstream brands of candles like Yankee Candle and the Bath and Body Works candles. However, they are less expensive than many of the other big name luxury candle brands such as Jo Malone, Diptyque, or Cire Trudon.

Recently we did a post discussing why Nest candles were as expensive as they are and going over what gives them that price tag, if they were worth it, and who should buy them.

If you are a fan of these candles already, I’m sure that you already have a favorite, but hopefully you can still get something out of this. If you have never tried a Nest candle before we will show you some of our favorites.

How we will be ranking the best nest candle scents

We will be listing these scents from our least favorite to the best smelling Nest candles. That isn’t to say that the ones at the start of the list are bad, but if we had to rank them, this is what we would personally go with. Everyone has different tastes and opinions though so don’t worry if your scent is on the bottom, I’m sure a ton of people love it!

This is also only the candles that we have had a chance to try out for ourselves. If a scent is missing from this list it may mean that we haven’t spent enough time trying it out.

We usually linked the 3-wick size candles because those are our personal favorite sizes, however there are smaller and larger sizes available. Generally, the larger the candle, the more space the fragrance will fill. Go with whatever you feel you’d need.

10. Velvet Pear

Anjou pear and crisp apple with lemon and hints of peony accented with white musk and amber.

Ah, Velvet Pear. With me being a big fan of pear scents I was super excited when they announced this candle. It’s not quite what you would expect from a pear candle but it is an awesome unique fragrance. This candle is not super sweet and tends to go a little more on the muskier, smooth side of things rather than in your face pear fragrance.

It’s still one of my favorites, but it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. I’d give this one a smell in person if you can before buying online.

9. Birchwood Pine

White pine, fir balsam and Birchwood over a base of rich musk and amber.

Birchwood Pine is one of the candles that comes out at the holidays and has been one of my favorites ever since I first smelled it. It’s one of those candles that truly smells like Christmas trees but not in a cheap fragrance kind of way. It’s a great scent for all winter long.

8. Moss and Mint

Garden mint, apple blossom and muguet that are infused with a touch of oakmoss and vetiver.

Moss and mint surprised me a little bit. It’s not as heavily a earthy scent as I had first expected. While it does have a mossy undertone, I found the notes of apple blossom and vetiver to have a more prominent presence. The light minty scent really tops it off well.

7. Ocean Mist and Sea Salt

Ocean mist is combined with hints of sea salt, white tea and coconut.

Ocean Mist and Sea Salt is really a candle that just shows off what I like so much about Nest candles when compared to other candle brands.

When other candle brands try to do a fragrance like this I often find that they either go the way of making it smell like cologne or making it smell so over the top with it’s coconut that it seems like someone just spilled pina colada all over your house.

This candle does neither of those. It’s a fresh fragrance that seems to somehow sprinkle light notes coconut and sea salt that come and go and on top of vanilla-like base. Excellent candle.

6. Sicilian Tangerine

Sicilian tangerine and bergamot are entwined with exotic mango and passionfruit.

This one is a nice citrus scent with a very light spiciness underneath. The tangerine is what jumps out the most and is a very true tangerine fragrance. it’s one of the best candles to burn in the summertime.

5. Holiday

Pomegranate, Mandarin orange, pine, cloves and cinnamon with a hint of vanilla and amber.

Quick side note with this candle, I just love seeing that red velvet box during the holidays. Nest candles always look excellent but with this one you don’t even want the box to be damaged.

Holiday is of course, one of the candles that Nest brings out for the holidays. It’s one of my absolute favorites and I’ve raved about it on the blog before in this post and also here…. and here. Yup, I really dig this candle.

4. Moroccan Amber

Moroccan amber, sweet patchouli, heliotrope and bergamot are accented with a hint of eucalyptus.

Now we are really getting into the signature Nest candles. These ones helped cement Nest Fragrances as one of the top candle brands out there.

Moroccan amber might be the most divisive of the classics but most people, including myself, absolutely love it. It’s one of the stronger scents in the Nest lineup for sure. You don’t get too much of the heavy patchouli so it’s not overly earthy. What you will get is a spicy, warm fragrance, with the amber being the focus. You pick up on some light eucalyptus fragrance in this one as well but it is kind of subdued.

3. Pumpkin Chai

Wild pumpkin, spicy masala chai, cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon.

Pumpkin Chai is truly fall in a candle. It’s got all the warm spices baked in with a creamy pumpkin fragrance that is just perfect for the season. I love this candle. Some people compare this one to Pumpkin Patch from Bath and Body Works, and while it is similar, I think this one is hands down, the better fragrance.

This candle is one of the only ones from Nest that uses a colored wax instead of the uniform, creamy white, but I find that the darkened orange color is a nice change in this case.

2. Bamboo

Flowering bamboo is mingled with a variety of white florals, sparkling citrus and fresh green accords.

Bamboo is a long time favorite from Nest. The floral notes in this are not too overpowering, so if you are someone who is iffy on floral scents, you might still really enjoy this fragrance. What you do get however, is a nice clean, ozonic fragrance which is great year-round and really freshens up a space.

1. Grapefruit

Pink Pomelo grapefruit and watery nuances are blended with lily of the valley and coriander blossom.

You’ll have a hard time finding someone that wouldn’t find this candle to be a pleasant fragrance. It is another candle that has a slight floral undertone to it but not enough to turn someone that doesn’t like floral fragrances off.

This scent bursts with fresh, citrusy fragrance that just permeates the space that it is lit in. It’s one of the strongest candles that Nest has and for those that love a nice fragrance punch, this one is it. I love this candle.

We might do a post later on that just ranks every scent they have with less of our opinion thrown in so it is not such a long read.
