There is literally nothing better than the scent of Christmas trees during the winter months. Actually, the smells of pines and firs are something that are welcome in my home as soon as the weather starts getting cooler. I don’t care if I’m early. These fragrances make the home feel warm and cozy, and set the mood for the upcoming season.
Today we’re going to go over our top picks for the best candles that smell like Christmas trees. These candles are the ones that we think will be the best options for making your home get that nostalgic Christmas smell through scented candles.
If you follow the blog, you may know that we already have a guide for our favorite candles for Christmas. There are some great picks on there that smell like Christmas trees, and some of them will be included in this list. However, that list also has a bunch of other Christmas-y scents that aren’t Christmas trees. This list will only include our favorite candles that smell like Christmas trees.
Hopefully this makes for a shorter read and one that helps you choose the right candle a little easier (The other post we did has 25 candles!).
The Top 9 Best Candles That Smell Like Christmas Trees. (Pin it!)
1. FRASIER FIR – THYMES *Editors Choice”
Aromatic snap of Siberian Fir needles, heartening cedarwood and earthy sandalwood.
If this is your first time looking for a good candle that smells like authentic Christmas trees, get this candle.
Frasier Fir is a long time favorite here at Candle Junkies, and truly is one of the best candles that match the scent of freshly cut Christmas trees.
The official website has quite a few variations to choose from in this scent. The candle pictured above is the three wick version which has great throw for filling your room with plenty of fragrance.
Candle Junkies Deal Tip: If you go to the Thymes website and join with your email, you can get 10% off your candle order
2. YANKEE CANDLE – BALSAM & CEDAR *Editors Choice*
Balsam, aromatic cedar wood and juniper berry.
Some people love Yankee Candles and some people hate them. It’s not as black and white for us here at Candle Junkies. Some candles from this big name brand are terrible and some are great. This one falls in the latter category.
Yankee Candles did a great job with this scent, hitting all the right notes with fragrance that feels authentic and powerful. Reminiscent of the smells of going out and cutting down your very own Christmas tree.
Candle Junkies Buying Tip: We found these for the cheapest price online at Walmart for $16.88 (The official site has the same sized candle listed for $29.50!)
3. CAPRI BLUE – CRYSTAL PINE
Frosted fir, snowy woods, pine and sage.
We really liked this scent from Capri Blue this year. You may see their more popular ‘Volcano’ candle listed on our blog quite often, but if you are looking for a great scent for Christmas, this one will bring the woods indoors.
And how about this glitz jar that the fragrance comes in?? It’s darn pretty if you ask us.
Candle Junkies Buying Tip: You can find these candles in Anthropologie stores quite often, but the official Capri Blue website has the fragrance in a variety of different jar styles.
4. P.F. CANDLE CO. – SPRUCE
Snow powder, blue spruce, cedarwood, and citrus.
What’s not to love about the candles from this Californian candle company?
Their candles are vegan and made from a home grown soy wax. They are about as clean as you can get.
Spruce is a candle that I’ve wanted to recommend for a while now and this seemed to be the perfect time to introduce it.
Candle Junkies Buying Tip: The official website offers free shipping on ALL US orders with no minimum purchase required. Add in an extra 10% off if you sign up with your email on their website and you’re set.
5. VOTIVO – ICY BLUE PINE *Editors Choice*
Fresh Green, Fir Needle, Cedar, Patchouli.
Icy blue pine is a tree scented candle that packs a fragrance punch. For being only 10 oz in size this thing fills the room with a cool pine fragrance in a matter of minutes.
It wasn’t really a surprise that we enjoyed this one as much as we did, as Votivo is well known for their strong scented candles.
Candle Junkies Buying Tip: Amazon currently has this candle available with free shipping.
6. PADDYWAX – EVERGREEN & EMBERS
Top Notes: Eucalyptus, Spearmint, Fresh Ozone, Pine Needles
Middle Notes: Suede, Silver Spruce, White Leather, Patchouli
Base Notes: Smoked Cedar, Fir Embers, Spiced Balsam
This one is from the Alpine collection from Paddywax Candles.
They are another longtime favorite here on the blog. This candle comes in their “camping mug” style container that fits with the rest of the collection.
While this one does have some additional fragrance notes that come through, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the scent, it’s just too good. If you are looking for a twist on the Christmas tree scent, then this candle might be for you.
Candle Junkies Buying Tip: If it’s your first purchase from the official Paddywax website you can sign up to their newsletter and get 15% off your first order. Also, if your order total is over $70, you get free shipping.
7. VILLAGE CANDLE – CHRISTMAS TREE *Editors Choice*
Notes of juniper, balsam fir, cedar, musk.
I know a ton of people that swear by this candle and even would choose it over some Christmas tree candles that cost more than double the price!
If you also take into account that these candles have an extremely long burn time of 170 hours, it’s really a no brainer why many people love them.
8. TRAPP – WHITE FIR
Frasier Fir, Balsam Wood, Fresh Cut Pine, Cool Ozonic Notes.
Trapp is a very underrated candle brand in my opinion. They have some of the best scents around as it is and you will be hard pressed to find a better Christmas tree smelling candle than this one.
This candle is exquisite!
9. NEST NEW YORK – BIRCHWOOD PINE *Editors Choice*
White pine, fir balsam, and birchwood over a base of rich musk and amber.
This candle is nothing new to the blog, it’s been one of our longtime favorite candles for the holidays.
Nest is all about the complex fragrances that always go that extra mile and throw in nice twists on classic scents.
Birchwood Pine does an amazing job at capturing an authentic pine scent in a candle. I love it. I also love the new holiday packaging that it comes in for this year!
100% Worth the higher price tag on these.
