Many people ask me what my thoughts are on the Bath and Body Works candles. It’s true, that I have yet to write any full reviews on any of their candles on the blog. I feel that there are already so many great Youtubers and fellow bloggers out there that solely cover these candles that my opinion will just be another drop in the bucket. As such, I’ve tried to go with some other brands that people haven’t written about as thoroughly.
Since so many people have been asking, I figured I would share my thoughts on Bath and Body Works candles in general and do some individual scent reviews once in a while.
Bath and Body Works candles, in my opinion, are a great option that isn’t too expensive.. especially if you catch them at their sale prices which happen quite frequently. They usually have great scent throw and the burn quality on their 3 wick candles is nearly perfect every time. While they do have a decent variety of scents I often find them to be really hit-and-miss and I often go stick with a few of my favorites when I do buy them. Which brings me to the scent we have for review by them today ‘Twisted Peppermint‘.
Bath and Body Works – Twisted Peppermint
Is it Scent-sational?
This scent stands out to me as one of the best candle scents from the Bath and Body Works line for Christmas and winter or for people that just love peppermint in general. The scent description reads ‘Cool peppermint, sugared snow, vanilla buttercream, fresh balsam, and a hint of musk’. While I can’t say I was able to distinguish all of these notes in the candle, what I did pick up on was a true peppermint fragrance with some minor sweet note most likely coming from the vanilla buttercream. Not only is this one of my favorite Bath and Body Works scents overall, it is also one of my favorite peppermint scented candles. If you are a peppermint lover you will LOVE this candle. 10/10
That amazing peppermint scent is intense! This scent will fill a room and you will feel that cool peppermint in your nose not long after lighting. If you are sensitive to fragrant candles I would recommend only burning this one for an hour or so at a time. If you place this candle in a small room you can even smell it without it being lit!
As with most the Bath & Body Works/ White Barn scents, this candle features new packaging each year. For 2016, it features this label with the candy cane and polar bear on a turquoise background. The jar is semi-transparent and has an embossed Christmas tree on its silver colored lid.
Burn Quality and Longevity:
The burn quality of these Bath and Body Works candles are another strong point, the choice in the wick, as well as the 3 wick placement in these candles, ensures a quick forming melt pool, with little to no tunneling. The downside to this is the candles longevity. The 3 wick candles from Bath and Body Works burn extremely fast which affects their value a bit as well. We often find these candles only lasting around 30 hours and sometimes even less if you burn them for extended periods of time.
Cost and Value:
The regular retail price on these candles is $22.50 which works out to around $1.55 per ounce of wax. Looking at the price alone these candles fall into the lower to middle price range, but with how fast these candles burn you will need to buy multiple before you meet the burn times of some other candles out there. Luckily, Bath and Body Works has their three wick candles on sale for half price quite often. So buying at the right times can help bring the value back up for these candles.
- Excellent peppermint scent - Great scent throw - Nice, even burn
- Fast burn time brings down value - A little pricey if you don't catch them on sale
Twisted Peppermint is one of my all time favorite candles from Bath and Body Works. It has a true scent of cool peppermint that doesn't feel cheap and can fill an entire room with fragrance. The value of these candles take a hit from burning so quickly when compared to other brands but nonetheless these are great candles. Try and purchase them while they are on sale!
