10 Best Fall Candles 2017

best fall candles 2015

Check out our best smelling candles under $30 for 2018 post. Some of those picks are perfect for fall as well!

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year to go on a candle binge. With the weather starting to cool off, I find nothing more comforting than wrapping up in a warm blanket and get lost in a good book. The only thing that can make it better is having a good fall candle burning alongside me. Scents of warm apple pie straight from the oven, glazed cinnamon buns, and freshly baked pumpkin pie get my cravings racing.

With all those scents, not to mention, all the candle brands around these days, it can be pretty difficult to know which candles to get without spending a fortune and testing them all yourself.

That’s where we come in! We like to think we have pretty good taste in candles, and since we have already gone through those spending sprees ourselves, we’ve had the opportunity to try a wide variety of fall scents in our day.

We are updating and improving this list for 2017 so it includes even more of our favorites, plus new candles that we’ve tried and loved.

Please enjoy, and let us know what you think of any that you try out in the comments below! (Contains some affiliate links)

Illume: Rustic Pumpkin Ceramic Candle

This candle from Illume will not only bring the fragrances of fall indoors but it will also look incredible while doing it. Within this coppertone lid, you will find an inviting aroma of pumpkin, nutmeg, and sandalwood. I almost bought this one just for the look of it in my home but thankfully the scent held up its part of the bargain.
Wax Type: Soy-wax blend

illume cider woods candle

Illume: Cider Woods

Another new addition from Illume, Cider Woods enticed me with its unique spicy scent paired with hints of anjou pear, apple, and oakmoss.
Wax Type: Soy-wax blend

autumn wreath yankee candle

Yankee Candle: Autumn Wreath Candle

This candle will completely immerse you in that fall feeling. Autumn wreath may be a name for a seemingly ambiguous scent but rest assured, this candle smells great. The scent seems to give off the aroma of a nice blend of spices with notes of apple and cinnamon. This is a candle that you can leave burning well into the holidays and it won’t seem out of place.
Wax Type: Paraffin

nest pumpkin chai scented candle

NEST Fragrances: Pumpkin Chai Candle

NEST Fragrances are one of our favorite candle brands. They’re expensive, but oh my, are they ever worth it. With the NEST pumpkin chai candle, you get a nice earthy scent that is strong but not too over the top. This may be our absolute favorite fall scented candle!
Wax Type: Paraffin

woodwick pumpkin butter candle

WoodWick: Pumpkin Butter Candle

If you like the smell of pumpkin pie you will love this candle. The crackling of the wood wick is also a nice touch that will add to that feeling of the season change. If you haven’t tried a wood wick candle before you’re in for a treat.
Wax Type: Soy wax blend

goose creek toasted pumpkin toddy candle

Goose Creek: Toasty Pumpkin Toddy Pumpkin Candle

Goose Creek makes some of the best quality of candles period. While we had this same scent on our list previously, the glass pumpkin jar version isn’t available anymore and so we have decided to replace it with this limited edition jar instead.
Wax Type: Paraffin

bath and body works sweater weather

Bath and Body Works: Sweater Weather

As you probably already know, Bath and Body Works put out some highly fragranced 3 wick candles. They use a high concentration of fragrance oils to achieve this, but if you are a fan of very powerful scents than they may be right up your alley. This list wouldn’t be complete without adding at least one scent from their fall collection and so I went with my personal favourite to add to the list: Sweater Weather. This scent is a nice blend of eucalyptus, juniper berries, and fresh sage that comes together to create a special scent that is less sweet and more outdoorsy than many other fall scents. The only downside to these candles is that with only 14.5 oz of wax and 3 wicks, you will burn through these candles much faster than some of the others which makes the value a little less appealing than at first glance. You can find these online if you don’t feel like heading to your local mall but if you do look for the 2 for $20 sales that Bath & Body Works sometimes have to get the most for your money.
Wax Type: Blend of vegetable waxes

voluspa baltic amber candle

Voluspa: Baltic Amber Candle

We couldn’t complete this list without adding a candle from Voluspa. Luckily, their “Baltic Amber” candle fits in perfectly with a fall collection. These candles add a bit of luxury with their quality natural coconut wax which helps carry the scents of amber, sandalwood, cedar and vanilla contained within. We loved the slow burn of this candle, giving us over a hundred hours of burn time out of 16 ounces of wax. The floral design on the glass jar harkens back to traditional Japanese design and adds a nice touch to finish off the look of this candle.
Wax Type: Coconut wax

Illume woodfire candleIllume Candles: Woodfire Luxe Sanded Mercury Glass

Illume is one of our favorite candle brands and for good reason. These guys have taken years to craft their wax blends to get them to perform to near perfection. For that cozy autumn feeling we recommend the woodfire candle in any of its forms, but we adore the sandblasted finish on this mercury glass candle. This candles scent profile is a patchouli, cedar, vetiver, and oakmoss base with notes of amber, nutmeg, sugar and more to bring out everything you need in a perfect fall candle. This is the candle that got me hooked on Illume Candles.
Wax Type: Primarily soy wax blended with additives from palm, carnauba, beeswax and food grade paraffin to achieve desired performance

harlow forever fall

Harlow Skin & Co.: Forever Fall

Another new addition to our list is this candle from Harlow Skin & Co. It has an incredible blend of scents, mixing orange, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla to create something that will leave you with a warm and cozy feeling. Did we mention that this one has a wood wick that crackles as it burns? Yep, it has that too.

“Sweater Weather” from BBW is one of my fall favs, I just tried the “Pumpkin Chai” votive from NEST too and really liked it. Have you tried Pumpkin Bread from Gold Canyon, though? it’s my new favorite this year, I am absolutely hooked. The scent is so true and the throw is great. Literally smells like I have pumpkin bread in the oven, but better! Notes of spiced ginger root, pumpkin puree, and nutmeg.
